There is a difference between a believer and a disciple. A disciple is a person who dedicates his time and energy to learn everything taught. He learns with both heart and mind. He can be described to be a learner, a student and a pupil of whatever he learns. A believer, on the other hand, is a person who has faith and follows the doctrines of Christianity or any other religion.

People are associated with many religions and doctrines in the world today. Just to name a few there is Islam, Christianity, Hinduism, Judaism, and Jainism among others. In this article we will tackle discipleship concerning Christianity.

You had to be selfless to become a disciple of Christ. You had to abandon your loved ones and dedicate yourself to spreading the good news. You had to give out your property and follow the Christ. Your comfort zone of the home had to be forgotten to achieve the full status of a disciple.

The main characteristic of a disciple is full commitment to work of God.

In Christian context a disciple lives for Christ only. The most revered dedication of a disciple is reading and doing what the Word of God says. A disciple is not like any other person in the church. They have deep knowledge of the Bible. Their lives revolve around the word of God, they praise and worship; pray regularly and care for the people.

They leave their homes for the work of God. They work and live in foreign places. They well know that the world we live in is just but for a short while.

Becoming a disciple is simple for any Christian for they only need to make a choice. Though it is advisable to know what you are getting into regarding the price you have to pay. You live the career you love for the sake of the Gospel. All the pleasure seeking activities of the world are put on hold when you decide to become a disciple. You become a tool to God’s work. You, therefore, become the master of the word of God. Therefore Christians and anybody heavy laden should choose to follow God today to stop the advances of the Devil.
